Summer Bursts of Colour

Justin demonstrating the height of a plant!

It’s always a jolly evening when Justin Harrison comes to talk to us, and our August meeting was no exception. He brought an excellent range of plants and used them to demonstrate good colour/foliage combinations to brighten borders and patios, also explaining their qualities and requirements. They included new and interesting varieties of dahlia, salvia, sedum, grasses and climbing fuchsias amongst others, plus some ever-popular old favourites and a supporting cast of evergreens.

After he’d drawn our raffle, the plants – all British grown and hardy – were available to buy, and disappeared like hotcakes! We also had a good selection of free magazines for members and guests to take home at the end of the evening when they had enjoyed their refreshments and plant shopping. And for the first time this season it was getting dark as people drifted home, with an almost-full moon high over the car park.
